And Though I Walk

Posted: October 31, 2009 in Tenderly

Today they celebrate Halloween Day in many of the Western countries. My country has become one. I was moved to write some poems about my fears because of a very disarming statement that had been made. I will not try to convince anyone differently, the opinions they form are through their guidance and the path they must take. My effort along the way is to open their eyes to my true self by being as honest with them as I can. I trust the Lord to do the rest.

And Though I Walk

A faith has guided me all the way

No fear of the evils of devils at play

Devils who possessed my friends to do

Their drunkenness, lasciviousness and other iniquities
too

Heroic feats I’ve done like saving lives

One from drowning and one from two men wielding knives

Under God guidance I wear a Teflon vest

Got little fear for rowdies as my family would attest

Have been known to walk in the path of disagreement

Investigated the sides and settle the argument

When taunted as a child I cried but wouldn’t get angry

And didn’t choose physical retaliation to comfort me

Life was fearless because the outcomes were done

Kept faith And Though I Walk through the valley of
death, I feared none

Trick Or Treat

Posted: October 31, 2009 in Events and Premieres

This practice we teach our kids when we dress them up into these supposed cute costumes have a far reaching significance. We teach them to reward those who participate in this Devil’s playground and those who do not, we teach them to punish with a trick. The tricks can vary considerably but what ever the kids do, implanted in the back of their innocent heads to how to judge and hand out punishment. Couldn’t we use this time for another lesson that might benefit the country more?

Trick Or Treat

They say the borders of evil and good

Reach each other and that we should

In all our ways try to make evil please

Crackling noises, costumes and many sweeties

Kind to those that give but for those who did not

One lewd act or trickery, hidden, so you aren’t caught

Repainted doorsteps, egged cars or tissue in trees

To people not treating, you might do any of these

Righteousness bids me to stop and think

Each offending act puts us closer to evil’s brink

At the boundary of good and evil why can’t we defeat

This devil’s playground, dress saintly and forget Trick or Treat

Halloween Day

Posted: October 31, 2009 in Events and Premieres

Every year this celebration gets bigger and bigger in our little island. They are holding Halloween sales, dinners, parties and there are many stores offering the costumes for young and old to dress up like ghouls. I wonder if we are prepared to celebrate even when we are ignorant to the origins of the things we celebrate even when they have such a ghastly significance to us now. I watch the programs advertising for Halloween Day, gory to say the least.

Halloween Day

How do we call ourselves a Christian community

And let this demonic practice be a part of our society

Let our children go from door to door

Liking those who give treats and those who don’t, abhor

Our children being exposed to more bad from the USA

We chastise their dress and music yet Halloween is okay?

Engendering this practice to punish those that chase

Evil tendencies out and from off of their place

Not buying into the “oh, you little sweet dear!”

Doing the right thing and chasing them elsewhere

All the way I wish, back to the great U.S.A

You must not encourage this celebration of Halloween Day.

God’s Love

Posted: October 31, 2009 in Best Wishes

I don’t know of any time I think of Michelle and I didn’t hear a resounding beautiful in my head. Her radiance shines from deep in side. She is beautiful on the outside by any standard but she is even more beautiful on the inside. This is the same appeal I had before; I pray that everyone should have a Michelle in their lives. The one regret that I have with her is that we took so long to become friends and that I didn’t get to know her during our school days. For now, I’ll take all I can get. I have question I often ask of people who are very beautiful to look at, “What inner beauty radiates to your surface?” and many shy away. I don’t have to ask this of Michelle, she tells me every time how Jesus has filled her life. Happy Birthday Michelle!

All Things Under The Sun

Posted: October 31, 2009 in Tenderly

I was bold for the most part of my life choosing to take the roads that startle every one of my friends and as a result of my choices they called me names. You want to be too perfect. I washed my face when returning to class after playing on the field; I brushed my teeth after eating. I did all the things the boys refused to and I wore Christianity among my heathen friends bravely. The presence of God made me realize that all things were possible and remove all my trepidations. How then can some one close to me see anything else?

All Things Under
The Sun

A fear of all things under the sun

Like the sound of the breeze and the still when there is
none

Looking through the window at what I might find

The terror of dark curtains and what lies behind

How fearful to step out in the rain

I might slip on the cement and suffer great pain

Night times are spooky and when all the lights go out

Ghouls lurk behind every door and are every where about

Scared to walk the streets alone

Unable to face strangers on my own

No spine in my back no will to bare

Don’t have a courageous bone anywhere

Every shadow that walked across the field

Raised alarms and new psychoses revealed

Thoughts of desertion by my friends

Have devastating convulsions that have no ends

Echoes in the valleys and a startled fluttering bird

Send shrieks inside me, loud yet unheard

Using a knife can scare me but I get worse at the sight
of a gun

No rests for me, they say I fear All Things Under The
Sun!

The Breathalyzer Test

Posted: October 30, 2009 in Radio Talk Shows

Why do they want to object to a breath test? I remember when they first came out my reluctance to blow into something that so many others would have been using. Nowadays the tests can be done using disposable straws. Why would you want to drive when there is an increase risk to your health and others? And why are we not better keepers of our brothers. We should all insist on stopping our friends from driving when under the influence of alcohol, to what ever the levels since as it has been seen, many people react differently.

The Breathalyzer Tests

The Bar holds your keys until you are ready

Have all drivers use a machine to test their sobriety

Every one takes a straw and at they turn

Blows into the machine and if there is concern

Restrictions are placed on the drivers keys

Exceptions are never made even with the compelling pleas

And yet he found the loophole

Told a nondrinking man to rest his keys in the bartenders bowl

He then drank to a stupor when he was ready to leave

Asked the acquaintance to make the deceitful retrieve

Liquor is a belligerent buddy who never accepts no

You feel compelled to lie, cheat and hide wherever you go

Zaps away your inhibitions as it did with him

Every night was a risk but that night, Tim

Risked more getting into that car

The rain fell, it was dark and before he got very far

Emergency brakes failed him and he struck a lady

She was trying to cross to meet with her hubby

The same man who would jugg
le Tim’s keys at night

She was his wife for 10 years and didn’t live to see a new daylight

The Danger Of My Single Story

Posted: October 29, 2009 in Devotions, Religious

Every man has a part to play and every man’s part has a different significance. The story of Adam and Eve and their two sons Cain and Abel takes on greater significance when you start to remember that all life started there and unfortunately evil nurtured there too. Cain was the first real human exponent of many forms of evils.

The Danger Of My Single Story

Took no pride in sacrifice

Had little to spare, a morsel will suffice

Every thing I did my brother outdid me

Day after day festered my rage and jealousy

And finally one evening I could take no more

No more of his outdoing me as he did before

Got into an argument and the rage inside

Escaped with a fury to the first homicide

Rage made me do something I ought not

Ought never to have killed the only brother I got

Frightened when God asked where Abel was, I cried

Me, “I know not?” I was the first man who lied

Yesterday Abel lived but today he just laid there

Sleeping, motionless and his blood flowed everywhere

It was the voice of Abel’s blood that cried unto God

No rest again, no peace or contentment, I was banished to Nod

Got but one story, me, the older brother Cain

Lived with selfishness, jealousy, rage, lies and had slain

Even tried to deceive God with my devious answer

Should I know, “Am I my brother’s keeper?”

These were the makings of habits men learnt from me

One story led to a world of murderers, liars and doers of iniquity

Regardless to how many have heard it danger is on the increase

Yesterday mistakes are not mended and evils never cease

Super Natural Voyage

Posted: October 29, 2009 in Radio Talk Shows

This morning was unusual. When I had said my prayers and gave God thanks for the beautiful day, I was moved to the theme of the Morning Show which visited the music across the Caribbean. One of the songs played was Supernatural Voyage and I started thinking of the people of the Caribbean and the many beautiful islands. God made them all. These wonderful songs and varied culture were all done by His hand. Do you remember the story of the preacher who wanted to be closer to God so he climbed upon the highest steeple? God said to him, “Go down my son, I reside among the people”

Super Natural
Voyage

Sunshine dries the morning dew

Up on the roof top I hear the Cock-a-doodle-doo

People are already stirring about

Eyes are wide open and I hear the tout

Radio hosts playing breakfast in bed

Not just once but twice we were fed

And I had a better idea

Took a moment and knelt to pray

Used this morning to give my praise

Remembered to thank Him for these beautiful days

And as if transformed I felt His grace

Like a warm touch, a comforting embrace

Very blessed I felt and then my mind strayed

On more songs the radio hosts played

You were right Dennis J and acting AG

A morning throughout the Caribbean
can be quite a journey

God gave us precious islands with beautiful people

Every song reminds me God’s with them and not on a high
steeple

The Theme in this morning Cock-a-doodle-doo show was Man and so we heard a litany of songs with man in them. I was all good, what little I could hear before my sea bath. I never did get to write what I had started this morning but this evening it came back to me. As always I played on Man and hopefully pointed out the diversity of men in this world to day, the Man that we might ignore.

A Man Of Words And
Not Of Deeds

A Man can be found

Most places around

And if you look again

None deserves refrain

Old songs may include

Favorite males a special dude

With all this chatter it still feels wrong

Only one type of Man
in every song

Refusing to tell of the Man in Mankind

Dastardly Managers
that you will find

So many men with out any Manhood

Always Manhandling
women and up to no good

Not forgetting the miscreant who Manslaughters

Delicate lives Manifested
in the nation’s Sons or Daughters

No Manmade or Manufactured Mannequin

Only Manhunt those
with hearts beating within

The Lord Jesus came and promised to return

On a Mantel He will
place believers but the others will burn

Father’s house had many Mansions He is off to prepare

Do good and endure to the end and a place will be there

Evil Mandates that we

Eventual reach a Manor
that’s fiery

Deeds like Manners
and righteousness dictate

Surety that Man’s eternity
is with Jesus, a Heavenly fate

Twos Day Songs

Posted: October 27, 2009 in Radio Talk Shows

If they were going to play songs with two these are the ones I think I would like to hear. Actually, I can’t think of any more songs right off the top of my head. It would ne interesting to learn of others. When I get back from the beach this morning I think that I will spend some time searching from songs from my past that had two in their titles or was their theme. Meanwhile, if you can think of any please let us hear from you.

Twos Day Songs

Two little girls fighting for a boy”

When Neville came out Jane was beating Joy

One said Neville’s my man. My man he’ll always be

So no scrawny gal’s going to take my man from me

Distorted lyrics still float in the air

Another seem apparent a more melodic one to hear

You’ll hear lyrics like “Two different worlds, we live in……”

So romantic he repeats and will later sing

Our two different world become one

Navigating the coast together in the sun

Got no more Two songs in my head

So I’ll listen to the experts for what they play instead
