Happy Birthday Well Known

Posted: February 28, 2010 in Best Wishes

Another good friend and a great person celebrates his birthday today and I hope that he enjoys it. We haven’t seen each other for a while now but every time that we do it is always warm and friendly. Happy Birthday old friend.

Winfield King

We had a great time

In school in our prime

No real worries back then

Friendships sworn until the end

I look back at those days

Ev
ery once in a while and give God praise

Look back at our mutual respect

Didn’t have a disturbing memory yet

King we called you so King you must be

I remember your walking regally

Never questioning a step and God’s word you did obey

God bless you my friend with another Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday Many Bullets

Posted: February 26, 2010 in Best Wishes

There is no doubt that he carries his name well. Best was the best at all his undertakings. Most of you know of his exploits on the range but I know that as a young boy he was always on target and had perfect aim for the things he wanted in life. Sometime I might have questioned his motives but I never once doubted his ability. I wish my old schoolmate and friend a very Happy Birthday!

Marlon Best

Missed! Never! Don’t know that he can

A target has never escaped the aim of this man

Rifle hasn’t been made yet that doesn’t know his grip

Learnt them all long before and they would never slip

Once he sets aim with his target insight

Nothing gets in the path of his determined plight

Because he is focused and steadfast

Every achievement he aims for he eventually past

So with another year on his belt, I give a manly bouquet

This is the Best so my friend, have a Happy Birthday!

Was Your Day Okay

Posted: February 25, 2010 in Tenderly

My friend is such a good faith companion yet when she thinks of time up ahead; I sense a greater preparedness for the worst.  Some people peek to the back of the book to learn how it ends to avoid any emotional trauma and suspense. And there are those people who don’t mind seeing the end of the movie first, again to avoid the unforeseen surprise, well my friend I plans for the worst so that if things turn out better then at least there is no pain. I say, Lord thine will be done!

Was Your Day Okay

When you kneel to pray

And to our Father say

Savior I put things in your hands

You must do then as He commands

Overlook your troubles put worries aside

Use trust in God ‘cause He will provide

Resist the temptation to act on your fears

Don’t second guess that the Father really cares

As you plan for tomorrow don’t expect the worst

You must put your faith upfront, positive thoughts first

On days before you worried, at nights tossed in bed

Know that the Lord thinks many thoughts ahead

And rest peacefully the Lord will make all things right

You prayed and asked for his help well rest now and have
a good night

First Prayer Warrior

Posted: February 24, 2010 in Mothers' Day, Tributes

In remembrance of a shining light that guide3 the way for thousands directly and through her children. Eulees Verona Farley was the mother of 10 children, one of whom died as a baby and another who passed away just recently as an adult. Many of those who came into regular contact with her know of her unfading devotion which grew stronger as she watched the spiritual growth of her own children. In fact, her daughter the Apostle Dr. Lucille Baird speak of how in her frail self she still whispered the ending of Psalm 121 every time she had to leave, especially on trip overseas. In her mind she was may be described as the First Prayer Warrior, and to us who can only know her life from the distant, she set the example that make our earthly journey easier and growing in the spirit rewarding. A Tribute to honor the life of Eulees Verona Farley

First Prayer Warrior

Forgive me Father for those nights I slept

I’ve your blessings still sometimes I wept

Rose at light with concerns and prayed

Some difference befalls me cause I obeyed

Then a sister who had worked hard for you

Parented those nine kids that they might too

Returned to have her rewards by your side

A promise made everyone, to eternally abide

You went to prepare our place and she’s now there

Earnestly she lived on every day of every year

Resonated with love in a special way

Warrior in prayer and a teacher each day

And today I clearly see Father this life we spend

Right amidst the painful hardships will eventually end

Rise up from sleep each morning, remembering I can achieve

Intercession like our sister, love of all if I would
believe

On the Word knowing our sister’s example and a mother’s
pain

Refrain says If I could hear my mother pray again

There is an unwritten law that people should observe, one that gives no rewards for immoral behavior but rather punishes with public exposure and assures disgrace. We put people in prison for miscellaneous crimes that are often as trivial as stealing a package of biscuits yet families are disrupted by infidelities that are not punishable by law.

Ignoratia Juris Non Excusat

I didn’t know officer to give away

Got no signs of Zebras running, where are they?

Nor did she know of the traffic lights

Out of the city she’d only driven before, adoring the
sites

Radio too loud officer, is that against the law

A passenger told him turn it down but he never knew the
flaw

This is the first time I got some cannabis

I didn’t know you had a restriction for using this

After I built on the extension they knock it down

Just brought a bulldozer and flatten it to the ground

Unlawful erection of extended property

Regardless to it being a school I need to consult the
authority

I don’t understand why I can’t park the car here

So far to have to walk and lug my ware

Nothing on the street tells me that I cannot

Ought to be a sign close to where people park, or right
on the spot

Nudity in my own patio can’t be a crime

Except they arrested me on a charge and now I’m doing
time

‘Xcuse me judge I said, it was in the privacy of my own
place

Can’t do it he said, not when the patio is to the street
in everyone’s face

Usually we hung out at the bar after his game

Sometimes he asked for other girls to come too to do the
same

And because we knew he was married we left with him
discretely

Tiger has no right scandalizing our names and we deserve
his apology

Happy Birthday Rihanna

Posted: February 20, 2010 in Best Wishes

She is a Daughter of our soil, a student from my Alma Mater and I share the glory of her successes. Still, I like others grow concerned that she can easily be hurt by the troubles of stardom.  So, yes, I keep my ears and eyes out and you know what, in following her progress, I am contented that she is able to masterfully live the life and sometimes very eloquently too. I pray for her greater successes and that she never become too overwhelmed by the glitz of the life. Happy Birthday Rihanna Robyn Fenty!

Posted: February 18, 2010 in Ossie Moore Jokes

This Ossie Moore joke was only told to me late in life. Most Ossie Moore jokes are passed from house to house, kid to kid and then they stop when you get into your mid-teens. In fact, I don’t think we had any Ossie Moore jokes to share when I was in my early twenties. I just heard this one.

The Dead Duck Cost A Buck

The local Veterinarian gave Ossie a job

He wasn’t background checked, he was the Vet’s niece’s
heartthrob

Every day Ossie worked and not without some mêlée

Domestic pet owners threaten to beat Ossie one day

Early on mornings he report to the Vet

And sorted medicines for each client’s pet

Dogs were walked but were never bathed clean

Didn’t like them shaking on him, didn’t want it his
routine

Usurped himself when the Vet was gone

Coat he eyed and when certain put on

Kept an eye on the office and would often pretend

Capable of examining the animals when

Only he was there so that day when he

Stayed behind in the clinic late there was opportunity

This lady came in an asked Ossie what’s wrong with her
duck

And Ossie said the duck is dead, must have been hit by a
truck

But she wasn’t satisfied so Ossie went for a brown
Labrador

Used it to sniff and later a cat and they said the duck
dead fah sure

Can’t be real, she said when she saw her bill, this is
robbery man!

Kind lady, “$20 fah me and $130 fah de Lab report and de

Father Are You Here

Posted: February 18, 2010 in Tenderly

It took a while before Blacks were able to drive on the same buses as whites and even longer for them to sit dispersed in the bus amongst the Whites. Rosa Parks was popularized for the position she took by not getting out of her seat to give it to a White man in the bus. She was jailed and a boycott of the buses by Blacks and sympathetic whites soon followed. The following has no direct relationship with the bus rides but is a clear show of misguided minds

Father Are You Here

For sometime he had rehearsed, now on the final week

All was coherent, he was certain of what he would speak

The countrymen were racial, the church had only whites

He was invited for sure to give them some greater
insights

End the long bickering and inequality

Racial disparagement and social inequity

And still he knew that if he must get along

Regrettably he couldn’t touch on this blaring wrong

Every word he must carefully weigh

You mustn’t see any sighs, he thought, of ethnic mêlée

Off he went but at the church door

Unable to get in he explained he was invited and
explained more

He never got in, then, by a tree, upset he asked Father
why

Every one knew an invited Priest was coming but never a
black guy

Racial preferences shouldn’t have barred me getting in
Father

Every one there, the Father said, cries Father,  but they never let me in either

Our Valentine’s Night

Posted: February 15, 2010 in Love

The expectant night of Valentine’s can bring great comfort. Lots of lovers discuss what they might do but love is best surprised by the playful lies we tell to mislead love ones into their peaceful certainties and then to lay the surprise on them.

Our Valentine’s Night

Once we were dressed we were ready

Under a Moonlit night and a barn’s canopy

Radio was set to a selection we had made

Various old crooners, their old
songs we played

And we got served our delightful wish

Lots of crayfish and oysters made the dish

Especially good was the dessert that followed

Nuts sprinkled on chocolate in strawberries that were hollowed

Then we danced to the old familiar tunes

I hummed to the lyrics that Frank croons

Nat King Cole played and the recently deceased Telly

Even heard Brian McKnight, Luther and old Andy

Soon the mood was perfect and we droved away

Night was a success, still there was something we may

I felt the love pierced me in the eyes

Got a feeling in my stomach like butterflies

How perfect if I could hear what I waited all day to hear

Then finally the words – a great pause – and a joyful tear

Romance is generally celebrated with the traditional stuff like the chocolates, strawberries, the sexy lingerie, the special candle lit dinners, but there was one story that caught my attention recently, “The Apple Of My Eye.” This reference to the eye’s apple goes back really far and in the Bible it was a show of the fragility of a relationship and the need to give utmost attention to its safety.

Put their skirt suits aside and trade them for his and hers

And in the fuss of the moment you forget why

Love treats and you treat love like the apple of your eye

Even when it’s the darkest time love beams its glow

Never a dark or a gloomy moment with the love you know

The apple of your eye must be protected, hidden under your wings

In times of fears, in doubts, in times of evils or wrong doings

No earthly being shall love more dearly no love as true

Every love one has a beloved, every hen a cock too

So pleasure them on this special day, remind them of who they are

Delight your special love, show them a time befitting a star

And let your light of love glow to places far away

You’re the apple of my eye! when love is right tell them today
